He then became Director of New Student Orientation and Visitor Services and an Admission Counselor at the University of Wyoming. Jeff served as a staff advisor to the LGBT campus group and was a University Studies instructor for the university. This class was designed to help new students make the transition from high school to university life and give them the skills and tools needed to be successful in college. Jeff also served as a youth counselor for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Foundation. Jeff was friends with Matthew Shepard and after his death decided to become an advocate for the LGBT community. Jeff left higher education and moved to Denver, Colorado and went into banking where he was the bank’s liaison to the LGBT community and served on the board of directors for The Center, the LGBT community center of Denver, there he served as one of the co-chairs of the development committee and worked with youth outreach. Additionally, sponsorship for the HRC National Dinner increased over 5 times from when he started which was an increase of over $450,000. Jeff credits Cathy Nelson, the Vice President of Development at HRC, as inspiring him to continue as a development professional. Prior to Point, Jeff was recruited by Outfest in Los Angeles to become the first ever Director of Corporate and Strategic Partnerships. In his first year in this new role, Jeff broke national LGBT Film Festival sponsorship records by surpassing $500,000 in sponsorships for a single festival. Jeff grew up on a farm outside Chugwater, Wyoming (population 180) and currently lives in West Hollywood. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Wyoming where he graduated with honors. Jeff is a member of HRC, GLAAD, APLA, The Center, Outfest and The Trevor Project. |
